Tapovan Times

Every edition

Eight editions so far. The paper ran weekly through September and October 2025, took three months off, and came back in February. Each issue is readable here and downloadable as the original print PDF.

The Return Issue

Back after three months, slightly embarrassed about it. Rajaji National Park without the zoo expectations, four cafés four years on, and an honest attempt to say what it actually is about this town.

Time of Art

Diwali swaps firecrackers for frequency shifts. Saraswati and Kali argue about mess, an earthen dome rises at the pottery studio, and we make the case that art is not a profession.

Time of Sensing

The Ganga comes back blue, the five senses argue in a café, and Ashish writes about hugs. Five Garhwal treks for the season, and Buddha runs into Osho.

The Eyes Issue

Drishti, tratak, and what happens when the eyes stop wandering. Ram and Krishna disagree about dharma over lemon tea, and we finally map the quirky shops of Upper Tapovan.

Music Times

The centre pages go over to sound — nada, ragas, Sarasvati, and the confessions of an irritating singer. Shiva and Parvati bicker about the laundry. Didi explains how to survive Rishikesh with an empty wallet.

The Blackout Issue

Rishikesh goes dark and everyone turns into a phone-charging nomad. Krishna meets Buddha under a banyan tree, karma gets demoted to a subconscious filing system, and the construction chronicles begin.

Second Edition

Four caves worth wandering into, Osho and Krishnamurti argue in a café, and Ashish walks Balaknath Road for the four hundredth time. Plus the first Café Crawl.

The First Edition

Why a town with two hundred and fifty yoga schools needed a newspaper. Ganga Aarti ghat by ghat, the cows and dogs of Tapovan, and a deep dive into which yoga is actually best.
